Our speaker is Ken Burch, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, U of T. His subject is "Spectroscopy & Scotch Tape: New Discoveries Beyond Carbon". A brief abstract of his talk follows.</div><div><br></div><div> "In this talk I will outline our group's recent efforts to discover novel effects through simple means. Specifically I will discuss our efforts to create materials on the nanoscale and new combinations of materials with Scotch Tape. I will then describe the various instruments we use - infrared, Raman, differential conductance spectroscopy - to probe a wide variety of physical effects." </div><div><br></div><div>Let's have a good turnout for this very interesting presentation and our first meeting of 2013.</div><div><br></div><div>Regards,</div><div><br></div><div>Ed Morrison</div>                                            </div></body>
