The Canadian Boat to GAZA is proud to present:

“Exporting the Occupation: Israel's Pacification Industry” with Jimmy Johnson – leading expert in the Israeli security and ARMS industry

      followed by

“Holding our universities accountable to their purported commitment to the ‘vigilant protection of human rights’.” with Faraz Vahid Shahidi – member of Students Against Israeli Apartheid

      Wednesday April 13th, 7:30 PM
      Friends House
      60 Lowther Avenue
      $10 or PWYC

Jimmy Johnson will address the increasing economic divergence between wealthy and poor nations, and between the wealthy and poor inside nations. This divergence has coincided with the migration to cities worldwide. Military planners for powerful nations have characterized the results as the "urbanization of insurgency." Israel has the most extensive experience in urban counterinsurgency amongst countries in the world. His presentation will focus on Israel and the Occupation's role in the growing market for "pacification" strategies, equipment and techniques that are already being used in Iraq, Afghanistan, the United States and Canada.

Faraz Vahid Shahidi will present SAIA’s campaign demanding that the University of Toronto and York University divest from four companies involved in violations of Palestinian human rights and urban counterinsurgency. Investments in BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Hewlett Packard have been found in the University of Toronto's Pension Master Trust, Long Term Capital Appreciation Pool, and Expendable Funds Investment Pool, as well as in York University's Pension and Endowment Funds. The complicit companies create military technologies used in the murder of civilians, the destruction of infrastructure and the daily humiliation of Palestinians.
