GAZA: New Dynamics, Future Prospects – Dr. Sara Roy

This fall, we are honoured to host Gaza expert, Dr. Sara Roy of Harvard University, for our 2015 NECEF James Graff Memorial Lecture. We are looking forward to hearing Dr. Roy’s analysis on

Gaza on Tuesday October 6 th at 7:30pm at Trinity St. Paul’s, Toronto. For more information,

This lecture series was established in beloved memory of University of Toronto philosophy

professor and peace advocate, Dr. James Graff, founder of NECEF, Canada’s first NGO devoted

to Middle East peace education.

NECEF Sabeel Canada

Dr. Sara Roy (Harvard University) is a senior research scholar at the Center for Middle

Eastern Studies at Harvard University, specializing in the Palestinian economy, Palestinian

Islamism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She is the daughter of two holocaust

survivors.

Dr. Roy began her research in the Gaza Strip and West Bank in 1985 and has written

extensively on the Palestinian economy and on Gaza’s de-development, a concept she

defined. Dr. Roy has authored over 100 publications dealing with Palestinian issues and

the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has lectured widely in the United States, Europe, The Middle East, and Australia.
