To national and international unions and social movements please support 
  to stop a 40% reduction in pensions by sending messages of solidarity.

This message is coming from the UCU at Liverpool University but all 
messages received will be put on the national UCU email activist list 
and sent to other branches on strike.

The 30,000 UK member University and College Union in pre-1992 
universities (who have the USS pension scheme) is fighting the attacks 
on pensions and is preparing a 14 day national strike.

The National Union of students has announced its support for the UCU 
strike,

Many student unions are actively organising to support our action, such 
as in Liverpool University. This is a typical message from active 
students, "we wanted to say that we are proudly supporting the UCU 
strikes over pensions and stand in solidarity with our lecturers.” 
Student Action For Refugees Liverpool Uni.

Many trade unions and Trades Councils (TUCs) are expressing their 
support  and community organisations.

This struggle is also about the defence of public education. To destroy 
pensions will make it easier to further privatise public universities.

  & UCU National Strike

The president of the Liverpool University UCU local Jo McNeill spoke at 
the  February 2018 meeting of the Mercyside Pensioners Association about 
their struggle against the attacks on their pensions. The privatization 
of the British education system according to McNeill includes a direct 
attack on their pensions. The chair of the Merseyside Pensioners 
Association Julie Lyons-Taylor introduced McNeill and also spoke about 
the struggle in the past struggle in the National Union Of Teachers NUT.
