This event of the List brings forth the well-rehearsed question of the
responsibility of intellectuals as an urgent political matter that
necessitates practical organizing in the face of ongoing war in the
Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Exploring the contested political
terrain of contemporary MENA and drawing on existing examples of
solidarity, panelists will facilitate a collective reimagining of an
anti-war movement adequate to its daunting task. Some questions that
will be of importance at this event include: In what ways can
intellectuals contribute to such a movement? What are our
responsibilities in and outside our institutions? What are our past and
contemporary resources for anti-war organizing? What are the specific
challenges for movements against war in our time, and how can we
overcome them?

With *Gülay Kiliçaslan* (York University), *Shahrzad Mojab* (University
of Toronto), *Alan Sears* (Ryerson University). Moderated by *Gökbörü
Sarp Tanyildiz *(York University).
