CUPE 3903 Needs Your Help

Dear CUPE Allies,

I am writing to you to ask for your support during the York University 
strike and our local members at CUPE 3903. Our members have now been 
walking the picket lines for seven weeks. On Friday, March 2nd, teaching 
assistants, contract faculty, and graduate assistants from CUPE 3903’s 
Units 1, 2, and 3 voted to strike after extensive bargaining over job 
security, graduate funding, and the elimination of research 
assistantships. The results from our recent forced ratification vote 
conducted by the Ministry of Labour was a strong indicator that our 
members are committed to an agreement being research through collective 
bargaining.

We are humbly reaching out for a second call of financial support and 
letters of solidarity. Our members who would be recipients of maternity 
or bereavement pay from our employer are in need of further support from 
our local, and, now in the seventh week of our strike, we need to 
continue replenishing our strike support fund to keep our struggle 
going. We are once again asking for any support your local, council, 
division or national office can give by way of material and political 
support as we fight again for fair wages and job security.

We would be grateful for monetary contributions, in the form of cheques 
made payable to the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3903; or, 
material donations in the form of disposable thermoses of coffee, cups 
and coffee condiments, sandwiches, pastry and biscuit/granola varieties, 
and various hygiene supplies (food containers, paper towels, bathroom

page. We also welcome members to join our picket lines or send messages 
of solidarity! Solidarity picketing and messages ensure morale remains 
high among our members, and lets our members know they are supported in 
their fight for better working conditions.

to issue your tax receipt. Thank you kindly.
