natphil -- Natural Philosophers

About natphil
English (USA)

The Natural Philosophers is a group of physics alumni and other science enthusiasts interested in all the sciences. Started in 1979 by Professor Jim Prentice and Dr David Harrison, it was created in response to many requests from students who had taken their courses at The School of Continuing Studies. Interested in more more exposure to the ideas which had been presented in class, they asked for the creation of a forum for continued discussion on the topics. The group has flourished since its inception, continuing on strong with the support of Professor Lynn Trainor after Jim Prentice retired and relocated in the mid-nineties.

The group meets once a month for discussion on a current topic in science. In addition to the discussion, when possible a guest speaker will present on the topic to help inform the discussion. As we have continued to expand we have been privileged to hear presentations from many excellent speakers who have facilitated dynamic discussions steaming from the provocative questions our members bring to the table.

All those who are interested are welcome to attend the meetings and perhaps become members!
