Dear friends, colleagues, and people concerned about about recent
developments in Palestine and Israel,

Please consider responding to one of the people indicated in the following
message. By doing so you are signing the attached statement concerning Tel
Aviv University's participation in the further harrassment of the
residents of Silwan under the guise of archaeological research.

with thanks and good wishes,

Michael

Dear Michael,

I am sorry to disturb you in the midst of the holiday season with an appeal
to help us maintain the cultural and religious diversity of Jerusalem. The
attached letter will inform you in detail about the events that in addition
to their infringement on the human right of Palestinians to carry on a
peaceful life in their homes, even under occupation, also constitute an
effective barrier to any peaceful solution in Jerusalem. It is also another
station of the express train away from academic freedom in Israel that has
recently been dealt a number of severe blows. At this stage we appeal to
the most distinguished of our colleagues in a serious attempt to impress
and move the leadership at Tel-Aviv University from their present position.

You can join our appeal by mailing me at hasanrokem at gmail.com or David
Shulman at ddshulman at yahoo.com, or Sidra Ezrahi DeKoven at sidr
a.dke at gmail.com <sidra.dke at gmail.com>

Please feel free to express your wish to join us in our struggle or to
leave your feelings unexpressed.

as always

Galit
