Hi everyone,
Hope you are enjoying our mild winter weather.
We are very fortunate to have Dr. Robert Morris, chair of the Chemistry Department at U. of T. speak to us at our Feb. 14th meeting. His presentation is based on a talk he did last September "Chemists Have Solutions" which was part of a Chemistry Speaker Series held at the Toronto Reference Library, to celebrate the International Year of Chemistry. Dr Morris will discuss the pivotal moments in chemistry research, current research being done at U. of T. and the role of chemistry in everyday life.
Dr. Robert Morris joined the Chemistry Department of the University of Toronto in 1980. Appointed full Professor in 1989, and then Chair in 2010, his research interests include inorganic, organic and catalytic chemistry with applications in the fine chemical industry. Professor Morris has published over 180 articles, 8 book chapters and holds three patents. He received the Rutherford Medal in Chemistry from the Royal Society of Canada in 1991, the CSC Alcan Lecture Award in 1995 and the Award for Pure or Applied Inorganic Chemistry in 1998. He is a fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
You won't want to miss this one! Please feel free to bring along a friend, relative, or neighbour. 7:30 pm room 408 Physics Building, U of T
Hope to see you there.
Cheers,
Doug Wickland
