Greetings,
Our next meeting is Tues. Feb. 12 at 7:30 P.M. in the Physics Bldg., Room 408. Our speaker is Ken Burch, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, U of T. His subject is "Spectroscopy & Scotch Tape: New Discoveries Beyond Carbon". A brief abstract of his talk follows.
 "In this talk I will outline our group's recent efforts to discover novel effects through simple means. Specifically I will discuss our efforts to create materials on the nanoscale and new combinations of materials with                           Scotch Tape. I will then describe the various instruments we use - infrared, Raman, differential conductance spectroscopy - to probe a wide variety of physical effects." 
Let's have a good turnout for this very interesting presentation and our first meeting of 2013.
